Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 28 June 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of AdvocateConnect (the “Platform”), operated for the discovery and listing of advocates in India. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. What AdvocateConnect is

AdvocateConnect is a technology platform that helps citizens discover advocates by court, case type and language, and helps advocates create a professional public profile. We are not a law firm, we do not practise law, and we do not provide legal advice, opinions, or representation.

Using the Platform does not create an advocate–client or attorney–client relationship between you and AdvocateConnect. Any engagement of an advocate is solely a matter between you and that advocate.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to use the Platform.

3. For clients

  • Searching for and contacting advocates on AdvocateConnect is free for clients.
  • Advocate listings are provided for information only. We do not recommend, endorse, or guarantee any advocate, their qualifications, conduct, fees, availability, or the outcome of any matter.
  • You are responsible for independently verifying an advocate’s credentials and suitability before engaging them.
  • Any fees, communications, agreements and services are strictly between you and the advocate.

4. For advocates

  • You represent that you are enrolled with a State Bar Council and are entitled to practise law in India.
  • You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality and completeness of the information in your profile, including your Bar Council enrolment number and uploaded documents.
  • You are responsible for compliance with the Advocates Act, 1961, the Bar Council of India Rules (including rules relating to advertising and solicitation), and all applicable laws. You list on the Platform on that basis.
  • You grant AdvocateConnect a licence to host and display the information you submit so clients can find you.
  • Paid plans, featured placement and other advocate services are billed as described on the Platform and may change with notice.

5. Verification

A “Verified” badge reflects documents submitted by an advocate and best-effort review by our team. It is not a guarantee of an advocate’s identity, competence, current standing, or conduct. You should not rely on it as a substitute for your own due diligence.

6. Payments

Advocate subscriptions and other paid features are processed through our payment partner (Razorpay). Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable for partial billing periods. We may change pricing prospectively with notice.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit false, misleading, defamatory, or unlawful information;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation or qualifications;
  • scrape, harvest, or copy Platform data except as expressly permitted;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform; or
  • use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.

8. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its design, software, trademarks and content (excluding advocate-submitted content), is owned by AdvocateConnect and protected by applicable laws. You may not use it except as permitted by these Terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that listings are accurate or current.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AdvocateConnect and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your engagement of, or reliance on, any advocate. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold AdvocateConnect harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the Platform, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform, or remove any listing, at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms, inaccurate information, or complaints.

13. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at Guwahati, Assam shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Platform.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
